3. Judge the assembly honestly. A pre-cut kit is designed for a competent DIYer with basic tools, but the electrical connection of the heater is an electrician's job. Be honest about which parts you will do and which you will pay for.
4. Cost the room prep. The kit assumes a suitable space. Waterproofing a floor, adding a drain, framing a stud wall or improving ventilation are yours to do or pay for, and they are not in the kit price.

What a kit is, between a cabin and a custom build

A finished cabin arrives as a structure you install; a custom sauna is designed and built room-up by a contractor; a kit is the middle path, a pre-cut, pre-engineered package that you assemble into a space you already have. It suits a buyer with a suitable basement or spare room who wants a built-in sauna rather than a freestanding cabin, and who is comfortable with careful assembly. The value of a good kit is that the hard engineering, the wood cutting, the ventilation design and the heater sizing, is done, so you are assembling rather than designing.

The parts you cannot skip
